Specific Responsibilities:

A summer research internship is available in the Analytical Operations Department at the Oceanside, CA, campus of Gilead Sciences. The candidate should be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program with a Major in Science or Engineering related field. We are seeking someone with an interest in data science to write data processing scripts and to connect databases of assay results with data visualization tools. The intern will have the opportunity to work with Electronic Laboratory Notebooks, Tableau, Shiny, PowerAutomate, R and Python.

Essential Functions:

  • Under general supervision of a mentor, the intern will use his data processing and visualization skills in a number of projects, which may include:

  • Connecting to ELN to visualize assay results

  • Creating templates using Tableau or PowerAutomate to speed up regulatory filings.

  • Creating R package for the lab with functions that are frequently used

  • Creating product quality attribute database


Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Undergraduate (or graduate student, if applicable) in the or related field enrolled in a 4-year accredited US university/college; including enrolment in the Fall Semester after completing the internship

  • Good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required

  • Ability to complete 10-12 consecutive weeks between May and September

  • Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination* prior to start of internship
