Intern – Biostatistics, Inflammation (Clinical Trials)

Who We Are 

The Biostatistics team provides statistical support for study design, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. We provide statistical consultation on trial design and study endpoints, author statistical analysis plans, provide statistical advice with respect to creating a clinical development program, and use knowledge of literature to provide data analysis and present methods to support publications/presentations. 

Job Overview:

The intern will work with experienced biostatistician on research projects related to novel clinical trial designs and explore how to apply them to clinical trials. Simulations will be conducted to compare the performance between the actual trial designs and the potential adaptive designs with one or more adaptive features utilizing the trial design parameters from past Phase II/III trials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time graduate student in a PhD program at an accredited US-based university or college
  • Must have complete the Doctoral Qualifying Exam by the start of the internship
  • Pursuing degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or related field
  • Passed doctorate exam prior to the start of the internship
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in SAS and R
  • Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Must be able to work full time for a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
  • Must be able to work at our Foster City site for the duration of the internship (remotely if required by the company)
  • Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination* prior to start of internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of clinical trials
  • Experience with simulations
  • Solid ethical decision-making skills, self-motivated and adaptable to change 
  • Excellent detail oriented analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational, time-management, interpersonal and communication capabilities
  • Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
