The Senior Manager, Global Strategic Capabilities will be a key member of the Global Strategic Capabilities team that will lead the implementation and execution of key operational activities.  The Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring and supporting operational excellence of regional and global initiatives within the Medical Information function. One of the key responsibilities for this role is ensuring appropriate oversight and quality assurance of outsourced medical information activities in a region.  In addition, the Senior Manager will lead efforts to ensure inspection readiness, to measure operational effectiveness, and identifying and developing solutions to improve efficiencies and reduce risk.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Managing the relationship between Gilead and outsourced medical information vendors. 
  • Work closely with the Regional MI Lead to identify and manage regional needs/issues
  • Ensuring outsourced medical information vendors have access to the appropriate information that they need to provide excellent customer service (e.g. Gilead contacts, current product labelling, medical information content and other documents) 
  • Ensuring appropriate oversight of the performance of outsourced medical information vendors, including a quality assurance programme, training of vendor staff, and the implementation of processes that ensure that the vendor service meets expected standards 
  • Updating and ensuring compliance with Medical Information working practices and operating 
  • Working closely with affiliate medical information/medical affairs to support their needs
  • Working closely with affiliate medical information/medical affairs and vendors to ensure inspection readiness, including facilitating preparations for internal audits, responses to findings and implementation of process  improvements. 
  • Identifying areas for operational efficiencies and areas of risk, and developing solutions for improvement and risk reduction 
  • Developing and implementing a quality assurance plan for key Medical Information activities which may include evaluating product request reports, facilitating consistency of responses, and use of customer surveys 
  • Facilitating consistent use of Gilead medical information systems by medical information including the vendor, in line with global procedures and processes 
  • Developing and sharing metrics reports of medical information with stakeholders  
  • Leading digital projects (if any) on medical information in collaboration with IT teams 
  • Coordinate vendor support of mature products needing support in region. 
  • Demonstrate experience working cross functionally, e.g., GLPS

Knowledge & Skills

  • Able to work under limited direction 
  • Highly self-motivated and able to perform multiple tasks in a timely fashion. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills and ability to navigate through ambiguity. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining good working relationships with internal colleagues and external contacts and influence cross-functionally at various levels. 
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple projects and change management initiatives m a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. 
  • Must have a customer focused mindset, strong attention to detail, excellent organisation and problem-solving skills 
  • Broad knowledge of applicable country/regional legislations and legal/regulatory requirements for the provision of medical information services, and for adverse event and product quality complaint reporting, in the pharmaceutical environment is required 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and an advanced scientific or medical degree (MD, PhD, Pharmacy, RN or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Significant experience of working within Medical Information / Medical Communications within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience of working with / or in medical information vendors is preferred.
