We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Senior Manager of Supply Chain -Strategic Sourcing. This role will serve as the “Category Lead” supporting direct services categories such Production Consumables and Lab Supplies. This Manager may be based at Kite’s Santa Monica, California headquarters, our Oceanside, CA office or our state-of-the-art, brand new manufacturing facility in Frederick, Maryland.
The Production Consumables & Lab Supplies Category Lead will focus on Kite’s Category Strategy for materials in these categories. The Category Lead will manage various buying channels (direct, distributor) and outline the future strategy for production consumables and lab supplies that support the global network of manufacturing and development operations. The Incumbent will partner with internal Kite stakeholders to execute strategic sourcing activities to select and build strong supplier relationships in these categories. This Category Manager will have contracting experience preferably in the cell and gene area where suppliers are challenged to innovative or demonstrate continuous improvements. Lastly, the Manager will play a key part in the maturation of category and sourcing strategies and deployment of the Kite supplier management model.
Responsibilities of the Senior Manager of Supply Chain: Strategic Sourcing Category Lead – Production Consumables & Lab Supplies include:
Proactively champions Assurance of Supply and Risk Management for these materials within these categories
Develops multi-year category strategies to design the future state distributor/direct framework for Production Consumables and Lab Supplies for Kite
Supports sourcing requests for Production Consumables and Lab Supplies across Kite’s manufacturing and development operations
Oversees the deployment of new buying channels at Kite global sites with cross-functional teams.
Manages strategic relationships with select suppliers within Category to meet/exceed Kite’s business requirements
Conducts market assessments related to Category and deploys Sourcing Events-e.g. RFI/RFP/RFX to determine supplier capabilities, risks, pricing to address Kite needs
Drives Total Cost of Ownership for Kite and executes cost savings project portfolio for Production Consumables and Lab Supplies categories
Develops contract strategy, negotiate supply agreements, and facilitate negotiation of other agreements as needed (e.g. CDA's, Quality Agreements, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
PhD
OR
MS / MA Degree with 6+ years of Supply Chain and/or Procurement and/or Category Management and/or Operations experience
OR
BS / BA Degree with 8+ years of Supply Chain and/or Procurement and/or Category Management and/or Operations experience
OR
High School Degree with 12+ years of Supply Chain and/or Procurement and/or Category Management and/or Operations experience
Preferred Qualifications:
BS / BA Degree in Science, Business, Supply Chain and/or Engineering
7+ years of procurement experience
4+ years of Pharmaceutical / Biotech experience or equivalent regulated cGMP environment
Solid procurement acumen to include negotiation strategy, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management
Strong internal stakeholder management and ability to influence across different management levels
Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying multi-year category strategies
Experience leading cross-functional project teams
Demonstrated experience in managing Total Cost of Ownership and track record of driving Cost Savings
Demonstrated experience in following a formal sourcing process to include Market Assessment, Supplier Selection, Contract Management, SRM etc.
Advanced Degree in Science, Engineering, Supply Chain and or Business
Previous experience in Cell & Gene Therapy
Quality management experience (QA, QC, etc.) in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry
Strategic planning and integrated supply chain experience
Experience in supporting a manufacturing and/or development operations environment
Purchasing Certifications (e.g. CPM, CPSM), Supply Chain Certifications (CSCP, CPIM)
Project management and continuous improvement skills (e.g. FPX, Lean, Six Sigma, PMP)
