The Biomarker Sciences department is seeking an experienced scientist who will work in a multidisciplinary team environment to generate and interpret data from translational and clinical studies. The Senior Research Scientist I will be responsible for the development and execution of biomarker strategies for programs in the field of fibrosis and/or inflammation. Experience in the analysis of multi-dimensional data sets and a strong understanding of mechanisms and pathways underlying fibrotic and/or inflammatory diseases is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- This position will report to the Director of Biomarker Science in the Fibrosis/Inflammation group
- Lead cross-functional biomarker teams in the execution of clinical biomarker and translational strategies
- Lead the development, validation, and outsourcing of biomarker assays including pharmacodynamic, predictive, prognostic, safety, and other biomarkers
- Collaborate with Research Biology, Clinical Research, and Clinical Data Sciences to generate, analyze, and interpret data from clinical trials and human translational studies
- Strong experimental background in hypothesis-driven biological/translational research with demonstrated ability to execute well-designed experiments
- Experience with genomic, epigenetic, gene expression, metabolomic, multiplexed protein detection or other related emerging platforms or data sets is desirable
- Must be able to work independently and effectively on multiple programs in a fast-paced matrixed environment
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills are required
- Must be motivated, team and detail-orientated, and results focused
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated expertise in fibrosis, inflammation, or related field
- Analysis and interpretation of preclinical and clinical biomarker data
- Ability to integrate complex scientific ideas, generate and execute testable hypotheses
- Broad understanding of drug discovery and development in both early and late stage development and familiarity with regulatory approval process
- Knowledge of biomarker discovery and development, including assay development and validation, clinical discovery of biomarkers, and mechanism-of-action/translational studies
- Authoring of biomarker strategy documents and biomarker specific portions of clinical protocols
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven publication record
- Basic understanding of intellectual property, contracting terms, and provisions
Experience:
- PhD and a minimum of 4+ years of directly relevant post graduate academic and/or industry experience in fibrosis, inflammation, biomarkers, or other related medical science field. Position title will be dependent on related experience.
- Candidate must be detail-orientated with excellent record keeping and organizational skills
- Must be a highly flexible, results-oriented, and independent self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
